Hearts: Can you trust them?

Queensland 121

Can I trust my heart?

This is a valid question, and one many including myself have asked. You’ve heard and possibly even said, “ follow your heart” “listen to your heart” or “ what’s your heart telling you”. You may have said or heard the exact opposite, “ Don’t listen to your heart, it can be deceitful” “ you can’t make proper decisions with your heart because it isn’t logical” and other things.

Lets look at this scripturally first, then we’ll look at it in our own lives.

(Psa 10:17)  יהוה, You have heard the desire of the lowly ones; You prepare their heart; You incline Your ear,

(Psa 37:4)  And delight yourself in יהוה, And let Him give you the desires of your heart.

(Psa 84:5)  Blessed is the man whose strength is in You; Your ways are in their hearts.

(Pro 3:5)  Trust in יהוה with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;

(Pro 16:9)  A man’s heart plans his way, But יהוה establishes his steps.

Each of these verses have something to say about the heart. They tell us that our heart gives us ideas and can in fact be right about some things, but we need to give it over to Father so that He can guide us.

Now lets look at the verses say the almost opposite of the ones above.

Pro 28:26  He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, But he who walks wisely is delivered.

Mat 15:18  “But what comes out of the mouth comes from the heart, and these defile the man.
Mat 15:19  “For out of the heart come forth wicked reasonings, murders, adulteries, whorings, thefts, false witnessings, slanders.

Mar_7:21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

Then we have it saying that its foolish to trust your heart, but if you walk wisely you are saved. The beginning of wisdom is the fear of YHWH, that’s somewhere in Proverbs.

Matthew gives us good reason not to trust the heart, for it is filled with vile things.

Still yet:

(Psa_119:11)  I have treasured up Your word in my heart, That I might not sin against You.

If He and His word is in us we don’t need to fear what is in our heart, for He has said that He will write his commands upon our hearts. We will still need to be cautious and continuously check it for what is not good but, for the most part all we want to do is follow Him. And so that is what our heart will want too.

We can’t always trust our heart but, we would also be foolish to shove it to the side and not check and see what’s inside. To discern what is right in there and to cast out what is not. Because the more we check ourselves and what is in our heart, and replace the bad with the good, the less wickedness will dwell there. We will also be able to catch it faster, for we will have a better sense of right and wrong.

But, we need to be careful, because there are times when we are afraid to see what’s in there. We don’t want to see it, for two possible different reasons.

One: Afraid that it won’t be right.

Two: Afraid that it is.

Both these aren’t reasons to be scared, because if it isn’t right then you can replace it with something that is, and if it is right well that’s another time to count when your heart was right. Can you see where I’m going here?

You can’t trust your heart 100% but, you shouldn’t ignore it either. Because Father puts it in our hearts first then confirms it. We always need to inspect our hearts and make sure they are right with Him, then if they are clean we have no reason to be afraid of what’s in there.

I guess that is the conclusion. Search your own heart, is Father trying to show you some thing though it?

Would He approve?

A friend sent out an email this morning asking people to type a guest post for their blog. I was in the process when I got side tracked on a different topic.

What junk we put in our mind that we see as harmless, until someone who we know won’t see it that way reads watches or sees it.

Think about it, how many books or movies do we read or watch, would we want Yahushua sitting there watching or reading the same movie or book as you? I know for a fact that I would be embarrassed if He read some of the books I do even if they are innocent to us. Think about it, would you want Yahushua sitting beside you reading the chronicles of Narnia while you comment on the difference of white and black magic? Or while you’re watching Cinderella and saying that its all right because it shows that love conquers all?

Magic is magic, betrayal is betrayal, unclean thoughts and actions are just that. Can you imagine watching “twilight zone” and Yahushua coming in and sat down next to you, while you watch it after going to Church or reading the Bible?

I can’t say that I’m not guilty of this because I am. I am guilty of all these things. I may not have watched or read the things that I’ve mentioned but I’ve read or watched things similar or other things that I would not want Yahushua to read or watch with me.

But why do we then read or watch these things if we are supposed to be blameless and pure? I know we can never be perfect but should we not strive to be so?

Therefore reading things that go against what Yahweh considers as good and right such as

Gal 5:19  And the works of the flesh are well-known, which are these: adultery, whoring, uncleanness, indecency,
Gal 5:20  idolatry, drug sorcery, hatred, quarrels, jealousies, fits of rage, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions,
Gal 5:21  envy, murders, drunkenness, wild parties, and the like – of which I forewarn you, even as I also said before, that those who practice such as these shall not inherit the reign of Elohim

Filling our mind with such things, and messing up our emotions with books and movies that are best left alone until much later in life, that cannot be what Father wants us to do.

So maybe next time we go to watch a movie or pick up a book as you’re watching or reading or even before that, ask yourself; if Yahushua walked in right now and said “what’s up? what are you reading or whatcha watching?” then proceeded to pick up the book or sit down to watch the movie. Would He say “not bad” or would he be disgusted by what you’re filling your head and heart with?

Think on that, we all need to think on it.

Trust and belief

DSCF4784 scripture verse, and signed

Father has been showing me things, that I never really thought about to this extent. For a long time, I said that I was ready for everything, He would want me to do. The last couple of weeks, I’ve been praying and reading this book series named “Revelation Special Ops” by Precarious Yates. It’s a fictional book, and isn’t 100% accurate about the end times (but who is). It gave me much to think on, such as; am I really ready for this, am I where I need to be before He sends me out to do His work?

Yes my faith is stronger than it has been for a while. But I still put Him on the side lines, and I’ve really truthfully done that for too long. I was getting back on track for a time but I once again slid back into old patterns. Sometimes the hardest things to do are the best things. Something else this book gave me to think on, is the characters love for the Word, to praise Him, and they prayed before they did anything. They put Him in the center of their daily lives! Something I have failed in and failed miserably in.

He has been reminding me that I need to put Him first and trust Him. I know that when things go bad, I will only have Him to look to. Yes I will have my parents, but I can’t rely on my parents relationship with Him. I need to learn now to put Him first, then everything else will follow.

I know this will not be easy, but Trust usually isn’t. But it is better to put my trust in Him, my Abba Father and His Son, my Savior, than to put it in men.

Psa 118:8  It is better to take refuge in יהוה Than to trust in man.
Psa 118:9  It is better to take refuge in יהוה Than to trust in princes.

Because when things get hard He will be with me no matter what. Even when people fall away left and right.

Psa 37:5  Commit your way to יהוה, And trust in Him, and He does it.

There are times when He tells us things and they seem impossible but If we trust in Him, He does it for us. The miracles that He’s done all these years, that are written about and that no one knows about, except those who it happened to. Why can’t He do it now, He can and He will, if we trust Him. We only need as much faith as the size of a mustard seed and we could move mountains!

<- This is a mustard seed. Imagine having faith that small and we could say (with His backup of course) to this mountain be moved to another place and it would be done!

Mat 17:20  And Yahushua said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Mat 21:21  Yahushua answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

Mar 11:23  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

The basis of faith is trust, because without trust we cannot have faith. It is as simple as that. The hardest part is believing/having faith, but again it comes back to trust. You cannot believe/have faith a person if you do not trust them first, right? So therefore you cannot believe until you trust.

If a friend told you to close your eyes and fall backward trusting him/her to catch you. Would you do it? Would you believe that the friend would not let you fall on your behind? If so then you trusted them enough to know that they would stay true to their word. So acting on the belief that your friend will not let you fall, you are also trusting them.

Does that make any sense to you?

So when we trust our Abba, that means that we also believe Him.

I’m still learning, and I have a long road ahead of me, but I am looking forward to it. I Believe that He will make a way for me to do His will no matter how impossible it seems. I trust that He will be with me and shall never leave me nor forsake me.

Have a good week. And ponder on this as you go through the daily hum drum of life, during school, and at work: Do you trust our Abba Father, and His Son enough to close your eyes and trust that they will catch you, just like you would your friends?

Walking by Faith, Not by Sight

DSCF5745 scripture verse and signed

This was taken at Lands End in Cornwall, UK. It is a beautiful place.

It was very windy so we were very thankful for our coats.

Since that trip so much has happened. Not only in my family’s life but in mine too. My faith has grown stronger as a result. It was a real trial that trip but blessings have come from it as well. I have grown in my faith and at this point I think it is the strongest it has been since I started my walk. I trust my Abba Father more now, than I did before that trip. Yes there was a lot of difficult points, and at times it was just plain horrible, but He was right there. Nothing happened to us, we got to where we needed to go no problem. Even though it was our first time backpacking, and our backpacks were twice as heavy as they should have been, we did not injure ourselves (aside from lower back pain). And that was truly a miracle!

The whole trip was a miracle! He was everywhere! He prepared everything, yes, it was still difficult. Especially when He only tells us to just move. Move where!? To this place or over here? WHERE! It happened quite often. And believe me it was not fun. It was a big step in faith for my entire family.

I changed after the trip some for the better and some for the worst. The worst part was my own fault, and the better, well that was all Him.

I can’t begin to describe how much Abba was in that trip. He guided our every step.

He brought us to the bottom, to build us back up. That trip was a breaking point for me. After that trip I was either going to build a better relationship with my Abba and His Son, or I was going to fall farther away. But by the time it got closer for us to come back to Israel, I knew my faith was going to be stronger than ever.

Let me tell you the story of us leaving Australia.

My Pa, Nan, Uncle & Aunt, oops, we can’t forget baby J (hope you don’t mind me calling him that Uncle A), drove us to the airport. We had already changed our plane tickets once so this time we had to go. We get there and wait for the lines to open up. When they open up we go and line up. We go to get our tickets but because we are flying to Israel, it said that “a return ticket may be required”, they would not give us the ticket because we didn’t have a return ticket.

The lady sent us over to the desk, where her boss was. He gave us 2 choices

1. buy a return ticket (we didn’t know if we would be returning to Australia at that time)

2. buy an onward ticket (doesn’t make any sense to buy 6 onward ticket if we aren’t going to use them)

We knew both of these choices were not what He wanted us to do. Our family was standing over to the side wondering what was happening. We were just getting a bit frustrated because we knew that we were going on a one way ticket, and that was how Abba wanted it. After a while they came over and asked us what was wrong. We explained the situation.

I kept asking Abba what we were supposed to do, and you would have thought I would be scared (as I usually would be) and nervous. But I was clam and I had a peace that I knew was His. He also kept telling me to trust Him and that He would get us through.

Finally the man come over and gave us one more choice, they would give us our tickets to get to Jordan (our flight went from Aust-Qatar-Jordan-Israel). Then it was up to them to give us our tickets. The reason why Qatar airlines wouldn’t send us the whole way was because if we were rejected entry to Israel they would face a penalty of $5,000. When he explained the third choice all our faces broke into smiles. We knew that was the road to go. We said yes, even though there was a chance of us being stuck in Jordan.

We got on the plane, and they joy that I felt in my spirit was unexplainable!

When we got to Qatar He looked after us. A stewardess showed us the cafeteria where because we had a 6 hour layover we got a free breakfast and lunch.

While we were flying to Jordan I did get a little worried because the people in Australia said that we had to go and pickup our bags, then recheck in.

So when we landed we needed to find someone to explain to us what we needed to do. There was a guy there that was yelling Tel-Aviv Tel-Aviv. We thought he was talking about a bus or something, so we told him no. He told us to go to the desk, the people there told us to go with that man. By the time it was all figured out. And by the way we were at the point of falling asleep on our feet! Finally it was explained to us that they would be bringing in everyone’s luggage and would be searching it. Because we came through countries that were hostile towards Israel, and some one could have slipped a bomb in some ones bags. The man that was in charge was really nice and helped us in every way. When it was our turn to have our bags checked. He took us into a nice quiet corner. Where he helped us check our backpacks. He was really nice and friendly about it. Then a lady came over and gave us all a glass of cold water. It tasted SO good. They then gave us our tickets no questions asked and we got on the plane.

When we got there everything went smoothly. There was absolutely no trouble about the ticket. And we were even one of the first ones through, which is a miracle in it’s self.

We caught the shurut with our bags, and went to Jerusalem. It never looked prettier in my eyes it is truly the city on the hill.

So that is my version of the trip over here. He was in the midst of it. And He makes a way where there seems to be no way. He wanted us here and No man could shut that door!

He is faithful in everything.

Have a good Shabbat.

Love

Love is not ashamed

love does not boast

nor has it pride

Love is pure

not a feeling

nor an emotion

Love is what we have been given

it is not ours

but His.

“For Yahuweh so loved the world

He gave His only begotten Son

so that who ever believes in Him

shall not die but have everlasting life”

John 3:16

He loves us. All of us, it doesn’t matter what we’ve done, He still loves us. So because our Heavenly Father sent His only Son to die, because He loved us. We should love others. Not just those we know, but those that we may see but don’t think about, even those that we don’t see. But He sees.

Signal Hill

This is a picture from Signal Hill, St Johns, Newfoundland. We were there in 2010. I came across the photo and found a scripture verse that I thought would fit it well.

It was beautiful, and there is a 3 hour trail. It is TOTALLY worth it! We felt wiped after, but, oh so worth it. The wind, the smell of the ocean and all the history that’s there, is an excellent combination. Well for a history geek who loves the outdoors it is. But you don’t have to like the history part to like it or the outdoors really. Although I warn you if you do go, dress for the wind! at one point you could jump and travel a couple of inches, by just the wind pushing you. It was totally awesome. In the summer they have reenactments. But we missed that, because we got there in the fall. We spent almost the entire summer going east from Ontario. It was one of the best trips my family has had. There was so much laughter in that van. The whole year has good memories.

What if….

Its amazing how much time we can waste on things that are not worth it. I have been watching a lot of TV lately and I didn’t realize how much time it takes and for the majority it’s not worth it. I  don’t mind watching it every once in a while but not everyday like I have been doing. I didn’t have time even to take pictures those days.

So, we put away the remotes the other day, and my sister and I actually had time to go through our stuff and get rid of things. There is not much to get rid of but it’s sure interesting what you can find that you really don’t need, but brought anyway.

It has been good and we have gotten more things done than we have in a while. So it’s good. Plus we don’t go to bed as late.

Today some of us walked down to the grocery store, as usual. It was a good walk. We were talking about how we would miss this place when we leave. I smile when I see this land but I feel like crying when I think about leaving. My heart is here so therefore I will always come back. Where ever I go.

This Shabbat I think will be a good one. So I hope you have a good one too.

Psa 27:13  What if I had not believed To see the goodness of יהוה In the land of the living!

I read this verse and I got to thinking, you know what would have happened if I had not believed? I can’t say what might have happened, but it is an interesting thought. What would have happened if I had not believed, to see His goodness in the land of the living? I can’t answer that but it was an actually interesting perspective, that David had. We may not have an easy life right now, but what kind of a life would we have if we were not following Him right now.

Revelation

I know many Christians believe in the Rapture. There is one part in the Bible that says:

Mat 24:40  Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Mat 24:41  Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

A lot of people say that these verses are talking about the rapture. But is this our Abba’s nature? To take us out of suffering? Christians, Messianic’s, and Jews have been suffering for centuries. He didn’t take them out of the world then, why would He do it now? Is Salvation a free ticket out of enduring the end times?

What about those left on the earth that are not saved? Would we not be ignoring the great commission? I know many say that the majority of Christians will be taken up and some Christians remain to do the rest of the work. That’s what the movie “Left Behind” indicates, that the majority are taken and the rest are left, but, isn’t that being selfish. Leaving someone else to suffer while you go and have the easiest time up there while your fellow brother dies?

This does not seem to be our Fathers nature. He let His own Son suffer for us, and now we say we want an easy ride out of everything. The people in China, Russia, and many other countries suffer persecution, die for their faith, are put in prison. Yet us in the west know nothing of it, and just want a free ride. Everything we could want: fame, money, a good name, reputation, and connections.

Did any of Fathers true disciples have a easy life? Even after Yahushua’s death. Look at Paul (Sha’ul) he died a very agonizing death, Peter was crucified upside down, John was put on an Island and most likely never made it off. Father did not “rapture” them out then. So why now? If we all leave who will show the Jews the Messiah, who will encourage their fellow brothers when times are hard. From way up there are we going to look down and say,”terrific job, keep it up, we will see you when all this is over” to our brothers and sisters. While we sit up there in His presence? I do not think that is fair, nor that is my Abba’s nature.

Look from beginning to end in the Bible about this. Think about this. Talk to Yahuweh about it. Find out from Him what He has in store for His people in this great time of trouble.

Another Day

I took these pictures one Shabbat I picked some flowers off weeds, or fallen petal’s from the ground, etc. It was lots of fun I had the family’s MP3, it was just a really relaxing afternoon.

Have a blessed Shabbat and a restful one.
